The Organizing Committee

Regatta Duisburg e.V. was established in 2025 through the merger of two clubs: “International Wedau Regatta e.V.” and “Kanu Regatta-Verein Duisburg e.V.”

The International Wedau Regatta e.V. was founded in 2007 by the Duisburg Rowing Club and the Germania Düsseldorf Rowing Club to organize national and international rowing regattas on the Duisburg regatta course, which had previously been managed by these two clubs. Major highlights include the Rowing World Championships in 1983, the Junior World Championships in 2001, and the World Masters Regatta in 2012.

The Kanu Regatta-Verein Duisburg is the counterpart for canoeing. The KRV has specialized in hosting international canoe sprint competitions, having organized five World Championships and established itself as a regular host of the Canoe World Cup.

In 2025, Regatta Duisburg was formed by merging these two clubs to strengthen its position and establish itself as a strong brand for water sports on the Duisburg regatta course.
